PROPOSED CSX RAILROAD SIDING IN WHITE ROCK
Concerned Citizens in the Dutch Fork White Rock area have come together to form the DUTCH FORK COMMUNITY ACTION GROUP. This group stands solidly in opposition to the proposed construction of a one-and-one-half mile railroad siding by CSX.
This project has already been rejected by the Town of Irmo. Richland County officials and CSX have been planning for quite some time to bring the Siding to White Rock. This plan has a powerful impact on the residents of this Community. Some of the issues involved include Restricted Disaster Evacuation Routes, Increased Air/Soil/Water Pollution, and Disruption of Traffic. Please note that the population affected are not only the residential citizens of White Rock, but the Students and Staff of Lake Murray Elementary School, as well as the Residents and Staff of the Lowman Home Complex.
The Dutch Fork Citizens Action Group is actively seeking support in their efforts to relocate this project. They are planning a Public Meeting at the Daily Life Center of the Lowman Home at 7 pm on Tuesday February 26. Please bring a neighbor and learn what is happening with this issue.
