Monday July 19- A public notice appeared July 11 in the State Newspaper concerning a HUD Finance/Insurance review of a proposed 216 unit apartment complex on the Lake Murray Marina property. This notice lists the proposed development as Marina Bay Apartments. The notice is required by FHA financing law to seek public comment in regard to flood zones and wetlands. This notice is the first step in the process of developing the property. HUD will
solicit comment from the public, as well as review the reports of various agencies such as DHEC and the Corps of Engineers, before making any decisions. Each step of the process is documented for public notice. To submit a comment or for more information, call Bill Dickinson at Columbia HUD office at 253-3422.
The Ballentine-Dutch Fork Civic Association monitors proposed developments in our Community. We are naturally concerned with the possible impact (infrastucture, ecological, economic, etc.) that each development can bring to our Community. We are currently in contact with the local HUD office in Columbia to seek more information. We are now listed as a party of interest to receive all published information from them. BDFCA is also in contact with our Richland County Councilman Bill Malinowski, as well as the RC Planning and Development Services, to obtain more information on the proposed development.
The Ballentine-Dutch Fork Civic Association invites your comments, concerns, and suggestions. We really want to hear what you think.
We will send out more information as it becomes available.
Please continue to monitor our website and Community Calendar and Notices for updates.
